Until now, art and other enrichment programs haven’t been part of the curriculum in the local Oak Park schools. The formation of the pARTners in Education program by KidzArt is changing that.
An alliance between KidzArt Sacramento and Oak Ridge Elementary began in 2006 with the intention of bringing art to Oak Ridge students. pARTners in Education was created as a way to develop relationships with local businesses in an effort to privately fund art classes for disadvantaged students.
Through this program we are able to bring art enrichment to the Oak Ridge Elementary students to connect with them and offer a valuable form of expression. With nearly all of the families at this school near or below the poverty line, there would little opportunity for these kids to experience this type of program otherwise.For the 2006-07 school year, pARTners in education was funded by the Rotary Club of Sacramento.
